Getting ready to leave on your next supaw fun adventure?

Below are a few of the things we ensure are checked-off first to ensure a smooth holiday for both you and your fur friend.

Before Leaving:

Before heading off on your big adventure it’s always a good idea to consult with your vet for a full medical health check-up just to ensure your fur baby is happy & healthy and to avoid any unexpected medical issues popping up whilst your away.

Although I am clearly a picture of exceptional physical health ;) my mummy & daddy still made me go to the vet for a once-over and to stock up on any medications and seek pawfessional travel health advice.

Hot tip: Make sure you give the vet your best "puppy dog eyes" so they load you up with treatos!

Below is a list of some of the things we checked-off before leaving:

  • Consult your vet for a health check

  • Stock up on any medications required for your intended travel period

  • Ensure worming, flea & tick control are all up to date

  • Purchase a tick collar for extra protection if travelling to any high risk areas

  • Ensure health care & vaccination records are up to date (you will need these if you plan on utilising doggy day-care or boarding)

  • Purchase a First aid kit + snake bite kit

  • Be prepared for an emergency, research closest vets to where you will be staying

My Travel Packing Checklist

So your almost ready to leave but a little overwhelmed with what to pack?

Below is a list of all the items I ask my pawrents pack for me to ensure I’m safe & comfortable (and look fabulous) at all times when travelling. I have also included a downloadable checklist for you here:

What to pack:

  • Snacks/ treatos

  • Food & water bowels

  • Travel water bottle (our travel water bottle has been soo valuable on the road!)

  • Well fitting harnesses, leads, collars

  • Clothing & accessories for us fashionistas 😉

  • Extra long lead (we use a 5 metre long lead for when staying in caravan parks)

  • Mat, bedding & blanket

  • Towel

  • Seat belt restraint for the car

  • Favourite toys

  • Poop bags

  • Wet wipes

  • Shampoo & Conditioner

  • Dog friendly sunscreen

  • Dog friendly insect repellent

  • Vaccination records (you may need to provide proof of vaccination if using pet daycare/ sitting services)

  • First Aid & snake bite kit & any medications including worming & tick treatment

Optional extras (if required):

  • K9 Sports sack (a special doggy travel backpack they can carry me in)

  • My bike trailer, or chariot as I like to call it (so they can take me along on all bike rides)

  • Life Jacket for swimming

  • Muzzle if traveling through high risk 1080 poison bait areas (I use the mesh outfox brand)

Top tip:

It's always best to pack all items before you leave rather than trying to buy them along the way, as some items may not be available in different locations and ordering online takes a lot more delivery organisation if you are moving locations frequently.

Happy packing!
